Littlewoods was a retail and football betting company founded in Liverpool by Sir John Moores in 1923. The materials in this archive were produced by Littlewoods and so, they represent various employee experiences, stories of the people lucky enough to win the football Pools, and much more. Interestingly, the collection also includes a large series of photographs documenting the women employed by Littlewoods; of whom were offered stable employment from Sir John Moores at a time when this was not considered the norm – thus making the archive a vital tribute to the women who contributed to the longstanding impact the organisation has on the city of Liverpool (and afar).
